We had problems from when we arrived, we were in a large group due to a local family wedding but there was a mix up with rooms, other people's credit card details were given out to the wrong person. We tried to speak to the Manager who wasn't interested as trying to explain to the Receptionist was hard work as her English was very poor and she couldn't understand what we were trying to say. We chose the hotel initially as it stated a late bar licence which wasnt the case, the bar was closed when we arrived late afternoon and again when we arrived back from the wedding reception. The garden was lovely as was the breakfast but thats about it. The room was so small that had our daughter been with us, we wouldnt have been able to fit her travel cot in the room with us (and the kettle had a permanent place on the floor as there was no where else for them to put it)!
Stayed for 2 nights but we had to check out of one room and check into another room in the morning which was very inconvenient. They had not informed us of this and only told us one hour after it was too late to cancel and refused to cancel the booking for just one night, very rude staff that don't want to help the situation. We travel a lot and this was by far the worst hotel we have stayed at simply because of the standard of the rooms for what you pay and also the lack of help and rudeness from staff.
Rooms cleaned every day.breakfast was very good.
Rooms very cramped and basic.noise from outside corridor and above rooms, late night and early morning.
Good location on a quiet side street which is surprisingly close to the centre of Ilford with its excellent shopping, eating and public transport facilities. Lovely private garden for the use of guests. Excellent buffet breakfast - the only suggestions for improvement I could make would be to replace the tasteless tinned sliced mushrooms with something more appetising (hash browns, for example) and provide a jug of hot water for those of us who prefer our tea/coffee on the weak side. The Cranford appeared to be a very friendly and well-run hotel which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
I used my debit card to make my online booking. Another family member then rang the hotel to make a direct booking and were asked by an employee of the Cranford Hotel if they wanted to add their room to my debit card. I then received a call from the Cranford asking me if I would authorise the booking of a hotel room. The read all the card details out to me despite me telling them several times that the booking and the card was nothing to do with me.
Nice Hot Full English Breakfast
Not really a family hotel more of a Hen/Stag Hotel. Quite a noisy hotel.
A nice garden outside. The breakfast was also good
Last night our lugage was changed to another room, without any communication. Strange situation. Als very, very small rooms and bad shower
The beautiful garden.
Tiny room was clearly not a twin: two beds had been put into it to make it so and it was overpriced; the breakfast was not very good: vegetarians were not properly catered for (despite notification on the booking form) and the mushrooms were probably out of a tin. Yuck.
Breakfast was good and plenty of it and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The rooms were extremely small as we couldn't get our lugggage in the room. During the night, there was no air conditioning, and people walking up and down the vynal floor outside in the early hours. kept waking us up.
Reasonably situated to facilitate our contact with Family, with easy access to Rail networks. The proximity to the splendid Valentines Park and its wide range of facilities was a bonus.
Space within both bedroom and bathroom was at a premium, and in consequence, caused some discomfort, but was overcome by unyielding compromise. As requested below,I would recomend this Hotel, with this caveat.
The room was very clean and breakfast was great, no rubbish served just good honest fry up and plenty of it. The location was ok for us and it was a very quiet hotel and a good place to stop given you just need a room to rest your head.
The closeness to Ilford Centre, ease of parking.
Tiny room, mould on bathrrom wall, no hot water and noise from other rooms due to closeness and thin walls. Altogether not a place I will revisit. Was cheap and now I know why.
Staff was very nice, close to reasonable priced food and grocerys, close to train station, close to free currency exchange, beautiful back yard, nice breakfast, comfortable clean rooms, good connection and price for shuttle service and nice eating area.
No ice machine/ bucket and no microwave in the room, wifi was down for two days but up on the third day (which was very important for us because we are students in the middle of semester, but they were really pleasant about it). Might want to put curtains up in the bathroom especially because the shower is glass. Small things nothing major at all.
